Coretta Scott King

Our country has lost a great and dear Soul. May we never forget the principals that she stood for and fought to establish.

The State of Union

For the first time in years I will not listen to it. What will he have to say.

He will congradulate the Senate for steering the Supreme Court from a centrist view to that of a extreemist, conservative view.

He might try to explain why Exxon Mobile posted profits at an all time level at our expense. These profits were not, were not warranted and were a valiant attempt to steal from its consumer.

Healthcare - there is a topic that President Bush is qualified to speak on. He talks of reducing government bureaucracy yet he creates the most complicated government program ever concieved.

Lets not forget the Domestic Spying that he says is his constitiional right as President. Do you honestly believe that the great Thomas Jefferson would have endorsed or used a program that is essentially the government sitting at your kitchen table listening to your conversation.

I could go on and on, but I am going to close it here. As a note I want to say that I am not anti-Republican I am anti abuse of power.

Some Republican I like,
Arlene Spector
John McClain
Orrin Hatch
John Cornyn - Except for his right to life stance -

Catch All

My Major in college is Political Science I am debating minors either economics or foriegn service.

Rudy Giuliani cannot be President I like the guy I would love to debate him, but he is not a great judge of character. I believe it was his fire chief that employed an illegal person. That has always puzzled me on me levels.

I had a great Christmas full of friends, I plan to start blogging more often now that school is back.

I welcome a feminist debate on this blog. Has anyone giving any thought about the Governor of West Virginia moving into national politics. I think he has showed that he command a presence, and is a very compansionate person. I think he is a great role model for anyone studying political science.

Domestic Spying

Wolfe Blitzer made a statement on the “Situation Room” today that made me do some real thinking. He asked if there was anything more President Bush could do to convince America that it was legal, I want to tell you that if by some odd chance it is legal than we need to change some laws. Americans value their freedom and their fourth Amendment now let us protect them.

There is no probable cause by simply talking to someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone who might be a terrorist. Furthermore, the government has no business knowing what books I check out at the library; think about that for a minute. Every book in the library is legal therefore what right does the government have in knowing what books I have checked out. It is your American right to disagree with your government and our leaders. People who valued their right to speak out against its leaders founded this country.

Supreme Court Justices

Just as note President Bush said Judge Alito is the kind of Judge of Judge Americans want. He is not the kind of Judge that I want.

I don't believe we should filibuster Judge Alito's final vote. However, as Americans we have to understand that this country is being driven to a hard right. Not more conservative but to a hard right.

Mrs. Miers would have been a conservative justice, she would have been a fine jurist with an open mind. Alito will lean the court far right, more so than Justice Roberts who I supported. He demonstrated that he alone decides his cases, not party lines.

So much further to go

We have come a long ways since the days of Martin Luther King Jr, but we have so much further to go. In his days and the days before him people would openly walk the streets preaching bigotry and hatred. Now society in general looks down upon those actions. We condemn those who openly preach hatred.

We still have a long ways to go. The hatred still remains among too many of us. I have no problem with using race as a description, but only as a physical attribute. Your race should have no bearing on economical success or the pursuit of happiness.

There is nothing wrong with the Police saying 6'2" 210lbs African male, the same as 6'2" 210lbs Caucasian male. There is serious problems with stopping every African, Caucasian, Hispanic male solely based on race.

Madam President

We are closer than ever before to electing a female president.

We now expect or at the very least allow our President to show emotions of sadness. You cannot imagine President Washington or President Jefferson showing strength. They won the Revolution but we must carry on with the mission they started. While our President is the Commander in Chief that should not be the only consideration you make when deciding your vote. Remember that a President is not a see all, know all, they appoint advisors to advise them.

I am not advocating a nomination for Hillary Clinton. I do not want her to run for President. I want her to be appointed to Attorney General.

Let me know who you think would have a good chance at running for President.

Heart Touching

I am not a big fan of "Boston Legal" but I have seen several episodes. For all of you who don't watch it, you missed one of the greatest episodes in TV history tonight.

Michael J. Fox deserves an Emmy for his heroic depiction in his greatest role ever. If you know anything about Michael J. Fox you know that he has stood for all those who can't stand for their selfs. He makes several speaches about dying and God willing he will soon stop giving those speaches in real life.

The hard reality of life is that we will all meet our Maker some day. The sad reality of life is that some of us meet our Maker before our work is completed. We must do more, we must continue to seek the cures, we must do more.

We must demand not more medicines, but actual cures.
